Don't ask Amanda

The wet and gloomy weather in Melbourne signifies the coming of colder months and the time to bundle up in layers and layers of clothing. For now, here are some series of pictures taken when my cousin from Sydney who missed me far too much flew down to Melbourne for a weekend stay.

Decked out in my current favourite wrap skirt and platforms, it was one of the last days the weather permitted anything above the knee or open-toed.

This wrap skirt from Don't Ask Amanda is arguably my favourite skirt in my entire wardrobe right now. Loving the silky material and the oriental prints so much ! Not forgetting my favourite platforms of all time. I can walk through all of Melbourne city in these and not feel tired at all.

If you like it, don't forget to hype this look on Lookbook.nu !

I grow a lot whenever my cousin is around. Horizontal growth, that is.
A weekend of cafe hopping with her all went to my waistline.

My favourite chorizo baked eggs at Hardware Societe.
I order this every single time I visit and I never get sick of it !

Tried Hammer and Tong's famous soft shell crab as well !
Stood in the cold for almost an hour before we were seated, waited a really long time before our orders were taken and an even longer time for the food to actually arrive.

The much applauded soft shell crab burger was tasty, but in my opinion, overrated. Sure it tasted good, and of course it seems very popular, but I wouldn't wait for over an hour the second time for it.  Only disappointment was the portion that was served (no sides, little ingredients) and the extremely long waiting time, even to get the waiter's attention.

La Belle session. Tricked by the cousin to buy 12 macarons but oh so worth it. For Mother's Day this year, La Belle Miette are making marmalade flavoured macarons and they were delicious as always. I haven't tried Pierre Hermes or Mak Mak, but in comparison with all the macarons I've tried (including famous ones like La Duree and Adrianno jumbo), La Belle Miette is still my favourite, hands down.

Much joy. Taken with my cousin's Olympus PEN E-P5 with portrait lens.
We discovered on this trip that her camera has a function, known as e-portrait, that smoothens out your skin automatically ! Unlike some camera functions that simply blurs out your face to make it smoother, this function on the PEN actually produces extremely high quality results. I guess that calls for a selfie frenzy.

Now I am lusting for her camera.

Exams are just around the corner and I am back to frantically trying to grasp what I learnt this whole semester. Nevertheless, I know it will all be over because I will be heading home to sunny Malaysia for my winter break !

As of now,  I guess it'll be more study time, less play time.

Till next time xx
